KMC`s Mandate
Our mandate is “to purchase cattle and small stock and to acquire, establish and operate abattoirs, meat works, cold storage concerns and refrigeration works for the purpose of slaughtering cattle and small stock, processing by products, preparing hides and chilling, freezing, canning and storing beef, mutton, poultry and other meat food for export or consumption within Kenya.
Vision.
Our vision is “to be a preferred world class meat and meat products processors.”
Mission
Our mission is “to procure process and market high quality and meat products at competitive prices using efficient, effective and environmentally friendly systems to the satisfaction of customers and stakeholders.”
Core functions of the Commission
• Promote production of quality stock;
• Procure livestock;
• Process and pack quality meat and meat products;
• Market meat through dealers and agents; and
• Engage in research and product development.
Non- core functions
• Maintenance of plants and equipment.
• Security and general cleanliness (laundry and pest control).
• Estates management.
• Market research.
• Curing and sale of hides and skins.
