The Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) was formed in 1950 through an Act of Parliament. The Government re-opened it for operations on 26 June 2006, after years of closure. This was done in recognition of the fact that with its capacity to slaughter 1,000 head of large stock and 1,500 small stocks per day, it would complement Government efforts in Kenya's economic recovery. KMC places high premium on excellent service delivery. We recognize this as a critical factor in attaining our goals. KMC is therefore committed to not only meeting our customers' expectations but, to surpassing them.

This service charter sets out the mandate, mission, vision and core values of the Kenya Meat Commission. It states the range of products and services that we offer and the standards of service that we have set.

As we strive to regain a position in the market, we are aware of the great expectations that our customers have. Our vision is to be a preferred world class meat and meat products' processor. As such, we recognize the importance of providing consistent high quality products and service delivery.

In order to meet the foregoing objectives, KMC has benchmarked its products and services to compete with the very best in the world. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and product excellence, as well as customer care and service. Further, the commission is upgrading its plant and machinery to be in tandem with the very best standards of global meat processing.

We focus on efficiency, effectiveness and innovation in everything we do, as well as ensuring professionalism in all aspect of our operations. We have an elaborate program for training our staff in order to build the capacity required to meet the ever-changing market needs.

The Kenya Meat Commission has concluded its first strategic plan. In this strategy, the organization intends to regain its market leadership position, and once again be the market standard for quality products and services.

We recognize and encourage feedback as a crucial input in our continuous self evaluation and improvement.
